ABOUT US

Justin Hoover

Justin

My name is Justin Hoover and I was born and raised in Northern Minnesota.  I currently own a small business in Bemidji.  I earned a bachelors degree from St. Scholastica in Business Management and Computer Science as well as a Masters of Divinity from Bethel Seminary.  I firmly believe in education and in equipping the next generation to lead our country. We are incredibly blessed to live in the United States of America and I believe in our education system.  Our schools should have an environment where academic excellence is our top priority and not political agendas.  Students have the right to feel safe and parents have the right to make all health decisions in regards to their children. Teachers should feel supported and their voice needs to be heard.  Taxpayers should know that every dollar spent in our district is going to create a better future for students and is helping to build a stronger community.  Change is needed.  Transparency and humility from the school board is needed.  I’m here to serve you, our students, our teachers, and this blessed community of ISD 31.

Nicole Jaranson

Nicole

My name is Nicole Jaranson and I am a graduate of Bemidji High School.  I have two children in the Bemidji Public School District.  I am running for Bemidji School Board!  Our kids are our future and they deserve every opportunity to have the best education available.  I have interacted with staff, students, and administration throughout our district and listened to the concerns and improvements needed to change our school district.  I feel we need to put the responsibility back to the parents.  We also need to improve on discussion and communication with parents, teachers and the community.

Anna Manecke

Anna

My name is Anna Manecke and my husband and I are both graduates of Bemidji High School and have three children in the Bemidji Public School District.  I decided to run fro Bemidji School Board because I saw how desperately ISD 31 needs change and leadership.  Since beginning this journey a year ago, I have learned so much about the school district’s policies, finances, instruction and much more.  I have listened to the voices of many staff and community members and they are concerned about he current path Bemidji School District is heading.

Marie claire richeY

Marie

My name is Marie Claire Richey, I was born and raised in Bemidji. Having been homeschooled, I got the opportunity to go to college early through PSEO and was a full-time college student at 15. I graduated Suma Cum Laude at 19 with my Bachelor of Science in Accounting with a minor in Business Administration from Bemidji State University. I got married right after college and my husband and I now have 3 beautiful children. After working in both tax preparation and private business accounting, I resigned and became a full-time mother so I could homeschool our kids. Because of my homeschool background, I’m often asked why I’m interested in the school district and I have an answer. Not many people know that Homeschool families in Minnesota still have to report to the school district and have the superintendent sign off on their homeschooling records so it’s not as if we have no contact with the schools, but beyond that, I have a little brother who now attends public school in Bemidji along with many cousins and friends. My desire is that parents have as many options as possible to ensure that their children have the best education possible and public schools play an important role in that. I believe in cooperation and communication and I want to build bridges where I can and walls where I must. I want our children safe, academically high performing, and I want the parents of this district to feel like they’re heard and their concerns are addressed.
